This alert is specifically for areas where sudden weather changes may occur, potentially impacting daily life.

Cold Wave and Dense Fog Warning in Rajasthan: IMD Issues Yellow Alert

Light Rain or Drizzle-Light rain or drizzle is possible in other parts of Rajasthan. This weather is due to an active Western Disturbance over Northwest India, which is bringing cold winds and moisture. Farmers and those working outdoors need to be cautious, as this may affect crops.

Cold Wave A cold wave is expected in some areas, with wind speeds reaching 30-40 kilometers per hour. This will lead to a drop in temperature and increased cold. People living in northern Rajasthan, particularly in areas like Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh, may be affected.  The cold wave can lead to increased health problems, such as colds or hypothermia, especially among children and the elderly.

This warning was issued at 7 PM and may remain in effect for the next few hours or days, although the IMD will continue to update it.

Why was this warning issued?

According to weather experts, cold winds and fog are common in North India during this winter season, but this time the situation has become slightly more severe due to a Western Disturbance. The director of the IMD Jaipur center said, "This yellow alert is to make people aware so that they do not take unnecessary risks."  Rajasthan has previously experienced accidents due to such conditions, such as road accidents or crop damage, so timely information is crucial.

Advice and precautions for the public

The IMD has given the following suggestions to citizens

Caution during travel- If you need to travel, avoid traveling early in the morning or late at night in foggy areas. Use heaters and defoggers in your vehicles.

Health safety -Wear warm clothes to protect yourself from the cold, consume hot beverages, and use a mask or scarf when going outside. If you experience any health problems, consult a doctor.

For farmers-  Use irrigation or covering to protect crops from the cold. Be cautious of waterlogging in case of rain.

Emergency situations- If the weather becomes very severe, seek help from the local administration or disaster management team.

This warning focuses particularly on areas like Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh, where the weather center is actively monitoring the situation. If the situation worsens, the IMD may also issue an Orange or Red alert.

People are urged not to pay attention to rumors spreading on social media or WhatsApp and to rely only on official sources for information. This initiative by the Meteorological Department is to ensure the safety of the public and prevent any untoward incidents. Keep checking the IMD website for further updates.
